We have an exciting opportunity for an Immigration Paralegal role in a leading Manchester-based law firm that provides private, business, and international legal services to a diverse range of clients, including multinational companies, investment banks, privately-held companies, small and medium-sized businesses, regulatory authorities, and governments, as well as entrepreneurs, start-ups, and individuals. The firm is looking for paralegals with strong commercial knowledge, outstanding written English, and an LPC or BPTC qualification.
Job Requirements:
- An experienced paralegal would be ideal (not essential), training is offered, though.
- Graduate of LPC/BPTC.
- Very knowledgeable about immigration law and services.
- Ability to write all standard papers.
- Ability to keep track of cases and keep a record for each step of the procedure.
- Strong commercial awareness of the firm's and clients' potential.
- Ability to accept new customer inquiries and participate in new business and clientele.
- Capability to multitask, wear many "hats," and cope with competing responsibilities quickly.
- Focus on results above and above the client's expectations, as well as previous experience producing great results.
- Ability to operate under pressure.
- Clients' ability to establish a personal but professional relationship.
- Desire to manage a diverse and demanding task.
- Interested in growing the department and obtaining new projects.
- Must be self-motivated, determined, and able to work independently on a difficult and varied job without supervision.
- Ability to swiftly grasp new areas of law and come up to speed.
- Experience providing outstanding customer/client service.
- Self-discipline to be responsible for own work and deadlines, as well as to move cases along promptly and effectively.
- Strong IT abilities are required to utilise the case management system.
- The ability to track and manage billable time on files.
- Ability to guarantee that clients are invoiced regularly and that client debts are maintained to a minimum
- Ability to charge to monthly objectives and time records utilising the firm's case management software.
- Ability to help promote and advertise the firm's services through internal and external networking events, presentations, and web publications.
- Detail-oriented and a constant desire to learn and develop.
- High personal standards, capacity to work under pressure, determined, adaptive, energetic, proactive, team player, commercial awareness, and a can-do attitude are all desirable qualities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in Chinese.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Take leadership of the immigration department and its development, along with the firm's contentious and non-contentious business.
- Working with the Regional Paralegal Manager and immigration lawyers.
- Case management, from intake through processing and filing.
- Preparing applications for foreign nationals seeking permanent residence and supplementary benefits.
- Petition packages are organised for inspection and submission.
- Obtaining information about the application and petition from third parties.
- Keeping customers up to date on the status of their cases.
- Keeping documentation and inputting data into a case management system for immigrants.
- Timely responses to immigration questions and adherence to filing dates.
