Our client is one of the UK's leading East Asian food retailers and is looking for a Food Safety Compliance Officer. As a Food Safety Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for the Facilities team and ensuring a safe working and compliant atmosphere for our customers and staff. This involves compliance with legislation and processes relating to health and safety, food protection, regulatory, contractual, and business.

Required Qualifications & Experience :

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar legal compliance/facility role.
  • Must be H&S trained to the IOSH standard.
  • Food Safety Level 3.
  • Experience of operating within a commercial food environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, communicate clearly with the store managers, senior managers, and all staff. 
  • Able to write and analyze legislation and respond accordingly.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and basic Word skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with contractors. 
  • Capability to work unsupervised and take responsibility.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Detailed and flexible in both written skills and time management. 
  • Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Food Safety and ensure that the Food Safety Policy is adhered to in all stores.
  • Manage fire safety, pest control, maintenance, cleaning, security, and maximize the efficiency of internal resources.
  • Carry out monthly Health and Safety and Food Safety audits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented for each site, and provide a detailed action plan to manage any non-compliance with the urgency required.
  • Carry out Health & Safety and Food Safety Risk Assessments and consider how risks can be reduced; develop internal policy and keep documents up to date and retained according to legislation.
  • Lead in-house training with managers and employees on Health and Safety risks and Food Safety; liaise with Human Resources to keep training materials and key officers up-to-date.
  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Meet with EHO inspectors and local authority officials and follow up on any issues raised.
  • Record incidents and accidents and ensure RIDDOR is followed.
  • Manage specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, asbestos, hazardous substances, safeguarding machinery, food safety, and vehicles.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain policies of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and Food Safety and any developments that will affect store operations. Update and maintain policies.
  • Ensure stores have all the relevant licenses in place and keep updated.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety issues and ensure a safe working and compliant environment for both staff and customers.
