We have an exciting opportunity for a Development Manager role in an award-winning Medical Equipment Manufacturing company. The organisation is now seeking a competent Development Manager that can successfully comprehend and address customer demands and concerns while working with a small, focused team in a fast-paced startup setting.
Job Requirements:
- Have rapid prototyping (ALM/3DP/SLS) experience.
- Have a thorough knowledge of CAD software (Solidworks, Fusion 360, Creo).
- Ph.D., master's, or bachelor's from a renowned university in mechanical, biomedical, aerospace, or automotive engineering, or a related area.
- Mechanical engineering experience of 3-5 years is required.
- Applicants with a solid history in medical device development are preferred.
- Candidates with intellectual versatility and creativity, are prioritised regardless of skill.
- Proven record of successful product development.
- Strong technological abilities with the development of mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of medical device marketing channels, plans, and policies is required.
- Outstanding project management and organisational abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to operate both individually and in a group.
- Capability to fulfil deadlines and ensure that team members and partners do as well.
- Critically, the capacity to work together with the rest of our team to drive and prioritize.
- Eligible to work and live in the UK.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, plan, and organise the electro-mechanical development team, as well as our external development partners, to bring this product to market.
- Direct responsibility for ensuring that the product is delivered on schedule and to a commercially viable specification.
- Identify and prioritise product requirements in collaboration with the marketing team.
- Provide technical assistance in the area of commercialization.
- Develop and test engineering methods and techniques that include consumer feedback as a foundation.
- Conduct technical evaluations of criteria, specifications, models, codes, and so on, and/or participate in them.
- Using design control and evaluation techniques, assess engineering decisions and hazards (e.g. QFD, Design matrices, FMEA).
- Be in charge of testing and validation criteria.
- Design and implement ISO13485 paperwork and development standards compliance.
- Where necessary, provide technical reports, papers, publications, presentations, and patents.
- Conduct weekly company-wide shared development reviews to ensure that any new developments, directions, and information are reviewed and shared with all stakeholders beforehand.
- Conduct formal semi and annual reviews, as well as bi-monthly 1:1 reviews with all development workers.
- Throughout the year, set and track all necessary development engineer deliverables.
- To maintain the seamless operation of the development department, must cooperate with the management, design, testing, project management, sales, and marketing teams.
- Liaise directly with all customers and vendors to ensure that quality and ethical standards are always fulfilled.
