We have an excting opportunity for a Junior Buyer role in a Food and Beverage company based in Nottingham. It is a prominent importer and distributor of traditional East Asian cuisine in the UK, supplying Chinese restaurants, takeaways, stores, and wholesalers across the country. The company is presently looking for a junior buyer who is eager, self-motivated, and self-driven to join the team.
 

Job Requirements:

  • Previous purchasing experience is beneficial.
  • It is advantageous to have knowledge about Oriental ethnic foods.
  • Able to work independently and versatile.
  • Able to work both as a member of a team and independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have prior expertise with stock control and ordering.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, as well as the ability to interact with people at all levels.
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation, negotiating, and organisational abilities.
  • The ability to function well under duress.
  • Proven numeracy abilities, such as budgeting, forecasting, and analysing.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel competency.
  • Mandarin and Cantonese fluency.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK. 

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Price negotiations with vendors for product lines.
  • Maintain efficient supplier connections by dealing with and contacting suppliers regularly.
  • Terms, product availability, and stockholdings within your categories are all subject to negotiation.
  • Examine sales to assess client demands and respond to changes.
  • Review inventory levels daily basis for stock buying purposes.
  • Examining and completing documentation for international orders.
  • Develop and maintain important relationships with your supplier base to ensure optimum flexibility and dependability.
  • Be proactive towards product quality, such as discovering and fixing issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with the warehousing management and Goods in to ensure that prompt information on inbound stock is provided, and that any product quality concerns are reported to the vendor.
  • Perform any other responsibilities that are appropriate and required.
