We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Developer role in a UK-based Retail company. It is a successful e-commerce retailer that sells licensed, premium, movie, videogame, and comic book merchandise from well-known brands. The Product Developer will work together with the design group, manage the entire product development cycle, and communicate with suppliers and factories to ensure quality and timely merchandise production. This position entails project management, quality assurance, and logistical coordination.

Job Requirements:

  •  Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Product Development or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in product development, accompanied by a robust portfolio highlighting expertise in merchandising.
  • Keen design understanding and a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is advantageous but not obligatory.
  • Strong time management abilities coupled with a dedication to organization.
  • Capable of working autonomously while maintaining a collaborative attitude within a team setting.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and continual enhancement.
  • Native or fluent in English.
  • Proficient in Mandarin or Cantonese.
     

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Design team to nurture a supportive and creative atmosphere.
  • Supervise the entire product development process for each project, guaranteeing timely and high-quality completion of all stages.
  • Regularly update and manage project timelines, ensuring all stakeholders are aware of crucial deadlines.
  • Facilitate the approval of designs and pre-production samples for all licensed brands.
  • Obtain and negotiate price quotations from suppliers to maintain cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate sample development across multiple locations, including China, the UK, and overseas.
  • Evaluate and offer feedback on product attributes like shape, color, material, design elements, and packaging before production.
  • Cultivate relationships with suppliers and factories while sourcing new materials, overseeing samples, and managing bulk production.
  • Arrange end-of-production inspections to ensure top-notch quality output.
  • Organize logistics for air and ocean shipments to the UK, emphasizing timeliness and cost-efficiency.
  • Evaluate bulk samples upon arrival, providing relevant feedback to factories.
  • Curate and enhance the sample library, ensuring its organization and value as a resource.
  • Prepare samples for internal and external meetings and product range reviews.
  • Participate actively in regular internal and external meetings, contributing constructively to discussions.
  • Attend seasonal trade shows and fairs as needed to stay informed about industry trends and expand networks.
  • Demonstrate readiness to travel internationally, especially to China, as necessary.
