We have an exciting opportunity for a Food Safety Compliance & QA Manager role in a wholesale company based in California. The business built a name for itself as a pioneering, diversified company by specializing in the marketing, importing, and distribution of gourmet goods, beverages, nutritional supplements, naturally derived OTC topical analgesics, herbal supplements, and teas, as well as the formulation, packaging, and private labeling of products. The company is looking for a qualified Food Safety Compliance Manager who will be in charge of developing, putting into action, documenting, regulating, and maintaining the food safety programs as well as making sure that all programs are implemented and kept up to date.
Job Requirements:
- At least 3 years of expertise in food safety inspection.
- Education and experience in the field of food science.
- Efficient problem solver with autonomy.
- Assure that the company follows proper product recovery and recall processes.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, USDA, and FDA, and experience with state and external inspection.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, make wise decisions, and report verbally and in writing.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and the capacity to collaborate successfully with management, customers, vendors, and employees.
- Chinese language fluency is a plus.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and keep up documentation, guides, policies, and practices for food safety and quality programs, such as HACCP, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, SOPs, product inspections, and standardized work instructions.
- Determine, record, and report proposed corrective action for ongoing compliance and improvement in response to changing requirements.
- Examine products and equipment to make sure they adhere to all applicable laws and standards.
- Ascertain that operations adhere to company, customer, and specific state, local, and federal food safety policies and laws.
- Create a COA, and as necessary, arrange for product testing and sample collection.
- Carry out facility food safety audits, as well as organize and oversee third-party audits.
- Report the findings of safety audits and, if necessary, submit suggestions for remedial measures for management's approval.
- Inform and counsel management, and instruct staff on cGMPs, HACCP, FSVP, etc.
- Helping buyers educate and train prospective suppliers will help them ensure compliance.
- Prepare and organize yearly supervisor and employee-specific food safety training.
- Attend regular, mandatory training sessions on organic farming and food safety.
- Audit and evaluate all operations when necessary and when possible.
- Complete participation in food safety audits.
- Occasional overseas trips for supplier facility inspections, as well as domestic travel for other warehouse locations.
- Carry out all other duties and responsibilities as directed by management.
