We have an exciting opportunity for an Accountant role in a Logistics and shipping company based in Barking. The company provides a fully digitalized supply chain service, which includes rail-road services, all-road transportation services, feeder services, warehouse & storage facilities, and customs clearance. They are seeking a person with an accounting qualification for this role.
Job Requirements:
- Fluency in both Mandarin and English is required.
- Possession of a professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in an Accounting role, with a preference for experience in the shipping or logistics sector or with Chinese businesses.
- Thorough understanding of accounting regulations in the UK, including UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Proficiency in utilizing accounting software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities, along with acute attention to detail.
- Effective organizational and time management skills, enabling task prioritization and deadline adherence.
- Strong communication skills, both in written and verbal forms, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Exhibits a high level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and uphold precise financial records for the United Kingdom division of the shipping operation.
- Create and assess financial documents such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Supervise and reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy and detect any discrepancies.
- Supervise the processes for paying and receiving funds, making sure payments and collections are punctual and precise.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and other tax-related paperwork in accordance with United Kingdom regulations.
- Work together with internal partners to formulate and oversee budgets, offering financial insights and suggestions.
- Conduct routine financial analyses to identify patterns, deviations, and potential enhancements.
- Guarantee adherence to financial regulations and standards, including United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (UK GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Assist in getting ready for annual financial audits and collaborate with auditors as necessary.
- Stay informed about adjustments in accounting rules and leading industry procedures, implementing essential modifications for compliance and efficiency.
- Furnish financial advice and backing to the management team, aiding in the decision-making process.
