We have an exciting opportunity for a Bilingual Health & Nutrition Specialist role in a San Francisco-based Non-profit Organization. The organization offers a variety of free programs and workshops to home-based childcare businesses, as well as assistance to parents and carers in developing child development skills. The Health and Nutrition Specialist will assist in the planning and execution of nutrition and health education programs for parents and child care providers as well as with the recruitment, training, and supervision of child care providers.  

Job Requirements:

  • English/Cantonese bilingualism (spoken and written).
  • Knowledge of child nutrition programs and support would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is necessary; sporadic weekend and evening work may be necessary.
  • Must be able to travel frequently within San Francisco; must possess access to a car and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to think clearly and quickly enough to carry out the essential duties of this position. 
  • The ability to use office equipment with dexterity; the ability to sit and work at a desk for long periods. 
  • Speaking, hearing, and understanding speech at normal room volume.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine individual training needs and provide individualized assistance and guidance to childcare instructors. 
  • Helping with goal-setting, locating techniques and tools to share, and promoting involvement with quality improvement chances to enhance and sustain high-quality eating and physical activity at their site.   
  • Visit and track the caseload of childcare educators enrolled in the CACFPP at least three times per year, throughout regular care and after hours.  
  • Design and lead CACFP-related workshops and training for educators, parents, and children in collaboration with the Health and Nutrition Team.  
  • Connecting educators with educational resources to help them to better understand nutrition laws and program improvement techniques.  
  • Assist educators with tools and resources from the Health and Nutrition program continuously on a technical and administrative level.
  • Develop, revise, and translate program-related documents, curriculum, and mailings to providers for orientations, training, events, and online resources.   
  • Keep track of administrative requirements, create reports, gather data, and document.
  • Participate in projects and events with staff members and departments from other agency departments.  
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
