We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Resident Services Coordinator role in a San Francisco-based Non-profit Organization. The organization is a community developer with many roles, including community advocates, organizers, and planners, as well as developers and managers of affordable housing, with the mission of building community and improving residents' quality of life. The Senior Resident Services Coordinator will offer assistance to a variety of residents living in Chinatown's former public housing complexes, primarily the elderly, the disabled, and families. This position works directly with residents and other site staff to foster connections and collaborations among San Francisco's ethnically diverse communities.

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of public housing or long-term supportive housing.
  • Experience collaborating with on-site Property Management to promote low-income residents' housing stabilization/retention.
  • Working knowledge of a Harm Reduction Model.
  • Bilingual in English and Cantonese.
  • Knowledge of the resources available in the work site's neighborhood and surrounding neighborhood.
  • Prior program evaluation experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a comparable field, plus 2 years of work experience providing direct services and 1 year of experience developing, organizing, and executing group activities, OR
  • High school diploma or GED plus 5 years of experience providing direct services and developing, organizing, and executing group activities.
  • Extensive knowledge of San Francisco's public, subsidized, and low-income housing systems, including having lived in or worked in one.
  • Experience working with families, adults with substance use/mental health issues, and older adults from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Chinatown neighborhood and its neighboring communities' social services and resources in San Francisco.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of low-income people.
  • Capable to travel and organize services for various San Francisco buildings.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and dedication to using community organizing as a means of fostering leadership development and resident engagement.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • As needed, conduct initial and continuing outreach to residents inviting them to use services.
  • Directly assist residents by connecting them to community resources, services, and information.
  • Create an ongoing network of collaboration between government and social service agencies.
  • Act as a representative and point of contact for residents with community service organizations.
  • Collaborate with Property Management to teach residents about their duties and rights.
  • Develop and organize educational, social, and leisure activities both on and off-site, such as workshops on health, safety, and nutrition; holiday celebrations; voter training; workshops on disaster preparation; and fire drills, among others.
  • Maintain a special emphasis on events that bring together diverse resident groups, particularly Black and Chinese residents.
  • Participate in community-building activities like Juneteenth, Black History Month, and summer block parties in conjunction with community engagement executives.
  • Provide resident mediation upon residents' request.
  • Encourage volunteerism among residents and the formation of resident associations (PYRIA) to promote resident empowerment and leadership.
  • Interact with service providers and/or property management on behalf of residents.
  • Educate locals and/or connect them to neighborhood and community initiatives that affect their quality of life.
  • Keep track of resident files, as well as case notes, service reports, grant reports, activity budgets, program files, and other paperwork.
  • Maintain regular monitoring of resident services data across various databases.
  • For program evaluation, survey residents.
  • Organise events and activities on a monthly calendar, and print flyers for outreach.
  • Represent the organization to residents and community organizations.
  • Make an effort to create a comfortable and safe workplace.
  • Observe rules and regulations, especially those relating to safe work practices.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned.
