We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer in a UK-based EV Battery company. It features a diverse product line that includes lithium phosphate battery manufacture, design, and sales. It is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer prepared to continue for at least 5 years and receive extensive training.
Job Requirements:
- Experience with mechanical engineering for at least 2 years is desired.
- Experience in 2D/3D design software, preferably ProE/Creo.
- Experience with pneumatics, electronic, and mechanical components such as sensors, motors, and cylinders is required.
- Laser welding, thermal design, and mechanical strength design in Lithium batteries will be a huge benefit.
- To be able to converse with Chinese vendors in Mandarin.
- Able to commute regularly or make plans to relocate before commencing employment.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Produce lithium-ion battery cells for energy storage, electric automobiles, and other uses.
- Ensure project tasks are completed and communicate with supply chain, supplier performance, process technology, battery cell design engineering, and R&D labs.
- Using computer-aided tools, create and examine mechanical drawings and models.
- Conduct and lead internal and external design evaluations in the mechanical and structural analysis domain, and use the results to improve products.
- Introduce and assess materials, procedures, and suppliers to increase and optimise battery life and safety.
- Lead the transition from pilot scale to factory-level mechanical designs while preserving exceptional performance.
