We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Operations role in an Industrial Machinery Manufacturing based in Hull that manufactures high-quality, eco-friendly water mist fire suppression systems. This position, which reports to the group's headquarters, is a crucial hire and has the authority to set strategic plans and grow the company across Europe. It also works closely with the global/Asian team and is accountable for evaluating business P&L growth.
Job Requirements:
- 35-45 years old, bachelor's degree or higher, English (required), and Chinese (preferred).
- A bachelor's in engineering or a similar technical field, or a combination of education/relevant work exposure, and 8 years of managerial experience are required.
- Adequate familiarity with and application of modern manufacturing techniques, including continuous flow, quality assurance, and techniques for constant improvement.
- People with experience in the fire protection products sector are preferred, as are people with connections to business partners in the sector.
- Over 5 years of team management experience, with a proven track record of success.
- Capability to commute/relocate to Hull regularly (required).
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide the P&L across the UK Factory.
- Helping the corporate office create business procedures and sales policies, and being in charge of business process follow-up, execution, and monitoring.
- Manage the sales order intake team to obtain accurate and complete information about sales orders from the sales team, finalise sales contracts, input sales orders, and produce a monthly sales order estimate for the purpose of planning materials and production.
- Direct manufacture of all company products per established cost-cutting methods, standards of quality, and on-time delivery.
- To meet internal control standards, be responsible for operational audits that include the entire value chain from supply chain management, materials handling, warehouse and logistic management, production process, and so on.
- Develop and put into practise a wide range of operating policies and procedures to make sure the plant meets operation KPIs for on-time delivery, productivity growth, cost reduction, inventory turnover, etc.
- Responsible for developing the European sales management system and the local sales force.
- To match customer demand with the best possible combination of procurement costs, UK factories need forecasts of demand that are updated monthly.
- Ensure that factory orders are delivered on time and reduce the risk of material stagnation.
- To ensure the integrity of the accounts and the accuracy of the facts, an inventory check must be performed (reports must be submitted).
- Work on continuous cost reduction at the company, including warehousing, optimising suppliers, etc (monthly cost report)
- If required, installation and upkeep of all manufacturing machinery.
- The ability to accept the job assigned by the supervisor or leader.
