We have an exciting opportunity for an Activewear Designer role in a London-based Retail company. With a focus on seamless technology and soft natural fibers, it creates activewear with a special stretch to offer an extremely comfortable fit. It is seeking a dynamic and imaginative person to join the team. The primary responsibilities of the position will be to research the activewear industry, submit fresh print and form concepts, and be completely integrated into in-house production to support every step of the process from concept to delivery. The ideal candidates will have a solid portfolio that exhibits a keen commercial sense for print and shape, as well as at least one to two years of appropriate experience working with a retailer or supplier.
Job Requirements:
- Experience designing women's sportswear for at least 1-2 years; the more, the better.
- It would be advantageous but not necessary to have prior experience working for a fast-paced, commercial clothing company.
- Highly competent at producing technical packs and print designs using Adobe (Photoshop & Illustrator).
- Knowledge of working with production teams and manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of woven and jersey fabrics; strong CP comprehension.
- Observing and meeting important deadlines.
- Speaking and understanding Chinese (Preferred).
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of the market, the capacity to look for comparative and directional trends, and the direction of the product.
- Analyze prints, shapes, and fabrics in rival retailers.
- Able to create artwork that can be delivered to our providers as cards, prints, or stripes.
- Assuming accountability for inspecting all accessories, rejects, and lab dips and for delivering feedback to vendors.
- Incorporating earlier market trends into the commercial design.
- Upgrading bestseller shapes and creating new shape concepts based on directives from development meetings.
- Following the development of a product from the brief to production.
- Review and test briefs to show commercial awareness of expenses associated with fabric and garment production.
- Complete digital technical packs that are ready for factory use should be produced; product technical knowledge is crucial.
- Produce comprehensive digital technical packs that are suitable for manufacturing use; product technical expertise is crucial.
- Develop offer sheets and collection colour charts to be given to the customer for cost.
- Working to and meeting important deadlines. Responsibilities include managing deadlines and meeting vital pathways for accessories and strike-offs.
- Responsible for updating modifications in the design development log.
