We have an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Manager/Buyer role for a retail food company based in London. The retail group is committed to provide the consumer with a varied assortment of luxury and modern groceries, as well as traditional and modern street food. The group is looking for an experienced Buying Manager to oversee product ordering, supplier relationships, and the adoption of purchasing systems inside the organisation.
Job Requirements:
- CIPS Level 3 or above is required (Level 4 is preferred).
- Outstanding communication abilities.
- English and Chinese are both fluent (desirable).
- Business-savvy.
- Prior purchasing/buying experience (preferably in Food and Lifestyle industry).
- Strong negotiating and persuasion abilities.
- Strong numeracy abilities.
- Experience in administration (desirable).
- Implementation of buying systems.
- Awareness of how to set up a buying system.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy buying procedures and systems.
- Create and implement defined product purchasing strategies that are per their business aims and ambitions.
- Recruitment and training of purchasing assistants.
- Contract/agreement drafting with suppliers.
- Collaborating with sales to estimate and plan supply requirements.
- When working with vendors and suppliers, strive for the best value for money, quality of services, and quality control.
- Ascertain that providers satisfy the necessary criteria.
- Create and sustain long-term, beneficial relationships with suppliers.
- Contracts and supplier performance are reviewed quarterly, with variations reported.
- Understand the broader market to ensure that items bought at a low cost are of excellent quality and complement the brand's strategy.
- Collaboration with finance on payments and processes is essential.
- Assist in providing accurate reports.
- Manage service level agreements (SLAs), which may include supplier rebates or early settlement incentives.
- Carry out routine shopping operations such as stock purchasing.
- Order confirmations are being checked off the list.
- Imports and border clearance management.
- Managing new model codes and barcodes.
- Follow-up on supplier orders and modifications to the schedule.
- Receiving phone calls and emails regarding purchasing.
