We have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Assistant role in a New York-based Fine Art gallery. The contemporary art gallery has branches in London, China and France. It is seeking to hire an experienced individual to fill this position. The primary purpose of this role will be to assist gallery directors.

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Arts Administration and/or Art History is desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or comparable, is required.
  • Excellent organising skills.
  • Capability to manage numerous tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • A thorough understanding of contemporary and modern art is essential.
  • It's crucial to have judgment, superior discernment, maturity, and poise.
  • Excellent writing and spoken communication abilities are essential.
  • Candidates who are fluent in Chinese will be given a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Address the requirements of artists and artist studios/estates, communicate with external connections, and so forth.
  • Manage all individual/group exhibits of artists, whether global or local and handle evaluations and loans.
  • Assist gallery employees with all elements of inventory and exhibition administration, including production, shipment, framing, photographing, and research.
  • Assist the Director in the preparation, transmission, and supervision of sales proposals, exhibits and arts festival previews.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to collect photographs, provenance and any other appropriate documents for offers.
  • Oversee billing, production, framing, shipment, and so forth.
  • Conduct secondary market research as appropriate and keep track of specific auctions and findings.
  • Obtain, plan and manage all appraisal applications.
  • Organize and arrange gallery viewings.
  • Create and maintain invitations for exhibitions/dinners, as well as provide assistance to the Director at openings.
  • Organize the directors' schedules, arrange and book travel, maintain track of meetings, and handle all expenses.
